Clavea Lumina - Full Face Rejuvenation
Interview with Dr. Lela Kurashvili
Dermatologist & Venereologist
Dr. Lela Kurashvili has been actively practicing in the field of aesthetic medicine since 2004 as an injection specialist.
Since 2014, she has also served as a certified trainer and educator in injection cosmetology.
- Dr. Lela, what is a bioreparant?
To explain it simply, let’s start with a broader perspective:
A bioreparant, in simple terms, is a blend of mesotherapy and biorevitalization. More specifically, it’s a multi-component cocktail based on hyaluronic acid.
For example, Limina from the Spanish brand Clavea is a bioreparant, containing active ingredients such as low molecular weight 1% hyaluronic acid, lactic acid, B vitamins, vitamin A, glutathione, sodium ascorbate, argireline, retinyl palmitate, and vitamin E, among 37 other active ingredients.
As a dermatologist, I find such preparations particularly effective due to their therapeutic, healing properties, which tend to provide longer-lasting results.
- Can you describe the Lumina Face Rejuvenation procedure?
The Lumina Face Rejuvenation procedure is most effective when performed in a series of three treatments, spaced 15 days apart. A single session will not deliver the desired results, so it's important to ensure the patient understands from the beginning that skipping sessions may compromise the outcome.
In terms of technique, since the product is relatively thin, threading it into papules is not effective. I prefer to use a 30G 13mm needle with a retrograde injection technique.
The product itself comes in an innovative package of three carpules with a single piston, designed for three treatments on one patient when treating smaller areas. Alternatively, it can be used for one procedure on three zones, such as the face, neck, and décolleté, or even the hands, depending on the patient's needs. In cases where larger areas are treated, the next session is scheduled three weeks later.
Lumina can also be applied close to the eye, along the orbital bone. However, I personally avoid injecting beyond the orbital bone, as the product contains a high concentration of active ingredients, which can increase the risk of swelling.
For ongoing therapeutic care, I recommend that patients repeat the course after six months.
In terms of age suitability, the procedure can be freely administered to patients aged 25 and above.
- Let's talk about the safety and effectiveness of Clavea Lumina injections.
When it comes to safety, my approach is that complications can never be entirely predicted, no matter how thorough the patient's history. Often, patients themselves may not have all the answers to the questions we ask, as much depends on the individual's immune status. In this regard, it's important to consider the presence of peptides and B vitamins in the Lumina formula, as these ingredients can occasionally trigger allergic reactions. Fortunately, such reactions can be managed effectively, provided we are prepared to handle them.
Some individuals may also exhibit intolerance to hyaluronic acid. The key to ensuring patient safety is closely monitoring for early signs of an allergic reaction, such as burning sensations or itching. If these symptoms arise, immediate intervention with antihistamines is essential.
With proper care and attention, we can manage these potential risks and ensure a safe and effective treatment experience.
- How would you distinguish Clavea Lumina?
From the patient’s perspective, one of the most important factors is avoiding post-procedural swelling, which can often occur with classical biorevitalization and boosters. However, with Clavea Lumina, swelling is almost impossible. This is because the drug works by activating the body's natural resources—stimulating the production of organic hyaluronic acid, collagen, and elastin within the intercellular matrix—rather than introducing external substances that might cause swelling.
I particularly recommend Clavea Lumina for middle-aged women, as well as for treating oily skin issues such as post-acne scars, skin deformation, and uneven texture.
What truly sets Clavea Lumina apart is its ability to deliver visible results after just one session, regardless of the patient’s morphotype—whether wrinkled, muscular, or deformed. However, for the maximum effect, it is recommended to follow a complete course of treatments.
With Clavea Lumina, patients experience smoother skin, reduced swelling, improved skin texture, diminished pigmentation, and a more even, toned complexion.
This treatment is especially effective for patients with a “tired” or “wrinkled” morphotype, which is a key distinction from other products on the market.
- Let’s consider the Lumina Face Rejuvenation procedure and its results.
I first applied the Lumina Face Rejuvenation treatment on a woman aged 50-55, and the results were remarkable. Her skin became noticeably smoother, with a youthful glow and restored vitality. This formula, featuring 37 active ingredients derived from vitamins and amino acids, along with the hydrating benefits of sodium hyaluronate, provides unmatched intradermal rejuvenation.
The technique we use during the procedure depends on the specific needs of the patient. Whether it’s addressing facial deformation, skin damage, pigmentation, or the need for lifting, each case requires a tailored approach. A deep understanding of anatomy is crucial for determining the correct techniques to solve these varied concerns.
For example, there are specific areas known as "ripper zones" or holding ligaments, and by applying the treatment to these points, we can achieve a lifting effect and enhance overall skin structure.
- In what cases would you recommend Lumina Face Rejuvenation?
The unique composition of Lumina Face Rejuvenation combines 37 powerful ingredients, each playing a vital role in skin health. With just one treatment, we can address issues such as swelling (see patient photo after the procedure), hydration, pigmentation, lifting, and brightening. Most importantly, this treatment is suitable for all ages.
I have personally recommended this procedure to individuals as young as 25, particularly those who frequently use tanning beds and suffer from dehydrated skin, as well as to patients in their 60s. In both cases, I am confident that this drug will deliver the desired results. Many treatments that work well on younger skin may not be as effective for older skin, but Lumina Face Rejuvenation consistently provides visible improvements across age groups.
Through a series of targeted injections, Lumina penetrates deep into the skin layers, delivering its powerful ingredients exactly where they are needed. The result is a brighter complexion and a noticeable rejuvenation process, visible just 3-4 minutes after the procedure.
The patient 3/4 minutes after the end of the procedure.
